Connecting your AOL Mail account to Mail in Sync

AOL Mail uses the same infrastructure as Yahoo and also requires an app-specific password. ← Back to Help

Step 1 — Enable two-step verification
  1. Go to AOL Account Security.
  2. Under Two-step verification, click Turn on and follow the prompts.
Step 2 — Generate an app password
  1. Go to AOL Account Security.
  2. Scroll to App passwords and click Generate app password.
  3. Choose Other app, enter a name (e.g. Mail in Sync), and click Generate.
  4. Copy the password shown — you will not see it again.

Step 3 — Add the connection in Mail in Sync
  1. Go to Settings and click + Add connection.
  2. Enter your full AOL email address.
  3. Select AOL Mail as the provider — IMAP settings fill in automatically.
  4. Paste the app password into the password field.
  5. Click Test connection to verify, then Save.

IMAP settings: imap.aol.com port 993 SSL/TLS.
